SMS Holdings wins International Diamond Prize in Vienna, Austria


European Society for Quality Research ( ESQR), selected SMS Holdings as the diamond prize winner out of Seventy-nine selected companies, public administrations, and organizations representing different sectors from Europe, Asia, the Americas, Africa.

SMS Holdings (Pvt) Limited is the largest paving manufacturer and market leader in Sri Lanka's interlock paving blocks industry.

The subsidiary companies of SMS Holdings are The Greenery, SMS Plantations, SMS Realities and SMS Leisure.

SMS Holdings is the first and only SLS certificate receiver for paving in Sri Lanka with ISO certification, it is also the only company to receive the eco-friendly US LEED certification.

The Company has handled a series of major projects, including the Colombo beautification project with the CMC, BMICH, Independence Square, Colombo port (the largest paving work done by a Sri Lankan Company), Hambantota Conventional Hall, Sri Lankan Raiway projects (Railway Platforms in association with Indian Railways from Vavuniya to Jaffna), hotel projects such as Galle Face Hotel and Taj Samudra etc).

SMS Holdings (Pvt) Limited began operations in 2001 using a manual operating system with just eight personnel.

The following year, the Company secured the contract for supplying and block-paving of Lanka IOC Filling Stations.

In 2006, SMS Holdings received ICTAD Registration (F2 Grade- Landscaping) for Finishing Grade, started the second factory for Pre-cast products obtained the first export order to the Maldives, and also received SLIA Product Award for Retaining Wall.

SLS Certification for hollow-blocks was awarded in 2007 followed by securing the biggest paving contract at Trincomalee for Lanka IOC oil terminal and ICTAD Registration (M7) for main contractor's grade.

In 2008, the Company started large-scale exports to the Maldives and increased the production capacity up to 40,000 pieces per day with over 15 professional laying gangs.

It also received SRI (Solar Reflectance Index) rating of 29.6 from RD Service INC. of USA for LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environment Design) projects conducted by USGBC (US Green Building Council) and started on the largest paving project at Ranavirugama Housing project
