State Defence Minister Premitha Bandara Tennakoon visited the Sri Lanka Army Commando Regiment Headquarters in Ganemulla on Monday (6).
The State Minister was warmly received by Colonel of the Commando Regiment, Major General Shanaka Rathnayake. He witnessed an audio-visual presentation on the Commando Regiment and was updated on the Regiment’s administrative matters and future programmes.
Following the discussion, the Minister, along with a group of Commando troops declared open the renovated shrine room constructed at the Regimental premises. He addressed the troops and also engaged in friendly conversation with them.
The Commandos also conducted a demonstration, showcasing their skill and operational tactics including their exceptional fighting techniques, animal handling, rappelling, hostage rescue and firearm exercises.
The visit drew to a close with an exchange of mementoes, signifying the importance of the visit.
