MaheshAluthge, a mechanical engineer who graduated from University of Moratuwa, is currently making a name for himself in the Brisbane art world. Despite his technical background, Mahesh has had a lifelong passion for art.His talent has recently been recognized by fine art societies in Queensland.

In his childhood Mahesh drew in charcoal, pencil, and pastels which impressed teachers and peers. He credits his early artistic practice with even helping him in his engineering design work later in life.

Today, Mahesh’s art focuses on capturing the beauty of landscapes and human emotions through both abstract and realistic styles. His work is displayed in both a physical home gallery and a virtual gallery.

Mahesh acknowledges his natural talent, and believes dedication and practice are key to artistic development. “Innate skills are not a must-have,” he says, “but they can certainly make the path smoother, especially if you have an artist’s eye.”

Despite his artistic success, Mahesh offers a realistic perspective on the challenges of becoming a full-time artist in Australia. “It’s a very demanding profession,” he says. He advises against relying solely on art sales for income, suggesting artists maintain their primary careers for financial stability.

Technology and trends constantly evolve. “Traditional artists need to adapt to survive and thrive in this environment,” Mahesh observes.

His creations are available on his facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151284014502259&type=3
