Made in the form of collar strap, smart watch:
The Ja-ela Excise Unit has succeeded in raiding a network that sold electronic cigarettes, which are mostly used by school-going students in Sri Lanka from Peliyagoda.
Investigations have revealed that these e-cigarettes have been illegally imported into Sri Lanka through the online system. The Ja-ela Excise Unit said that in a special raid conducted by the Excise Unit, a stock of e-cigarettes worth Rs.3 mn had been seized and the government has been deprived of a tax revenue of Rs.100 million.Officers of that unit said that this is more addictive than cigarettes and that it cannot be found that such a cigarette was used, and that various smells are emitted from them.
Those officers who request parents to investigate immediately if their child emits smells like this, claim that these e-cigarettes are manufactured in different ways and sometimes in the form of a
collar strap or a smart watch. They say that it is produced in such a way that they cannot be clearly identified.
Officials said that the stock of e-cigarettes will be confiscated after the investigation.
