Onmax DT scam: Court calls for valuation of lands owned by directors

The Criminal Investigation Department requested Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (2) to issue an order to the Valuation Department to call for a valuation report regarding 31 lands worth over Rs.1000 million owned by the board members of Onmax DT, a company accused of carrying out illegal pyramid transactions.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the Court that orders have been issued by the Court prohibiting the transfer of the sale of the said lands and that the value of the lands purchased by the suspects are about one billion rupees.

The Criminal Investigation Department also requested the Court to issue relevant orders

to nine offices of the Valuation Department belonging to the areas where those lands are located. A large number of people got caught in this pyramid scheme are still submitting complaints and the Financial and Commercial Crime Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department informed the Court that they have received more than 345 complaints so far.

The Magistrate informed the defendant party to take steps to prepare a mechanism to return the money for the aggrieved depositors who have invested money in this prohibited pyramid transaction.
