Lalith Kannangara, an underworld criminal who is said to be leading a drug trafficker in an around Hanwella area has been arrested by the Dubai security authorities.
According to information received from Dubai, it is stated that he was arrested on an Interpol Red Notice.
It is said that it was Kannangara who organized the killing of a hotel owner who was shot dead in Hanwella by an underworld gunman named Booru Muna and also arranged the escape of Booru Muna from the custody of the Katunayake Airport police.
The Police investigating the Hanwella murder obtained a Interpol Red Notice against him.
Accordingly, it is said that Lalith Kannangara was caught by the country’s security authorities when he arrived at the airport to travel to another country.
A senior police officer said that a Red Notice has been obtained against Kannangara while filing terrorism charges against him and also a warrant for his arrest is pending.
