The Chilaw hospital JMO who is conducting the post-mortem examination of the man from Kuliyapitiya who had been killed after visiting his girlfriend’s house has raised suspicion about the comments made by the main suspect arrested in connection with the crime to the Police that he had taken the youth to Madampe Panirendawa forest reserve and strangled him to death.
The JMO has said that there is not enough evidence to suggest that the death had occurred at the place the suspect had mentioned.
Accordingly, Kuliyapitiya Magistrate Randika Lakmal Jayalath granted permission to the Police to detain Don Charuka Devinda, the brother-in-law of the suspect Singithi arrested in connection with the murder, for two days and conduct investigations.
Police also said that JMO is focusing on sending the body parts of the youth named Susith Jayawansa to the Government Analyst.
A senior police officer mentioned that the post-mortem examination was not completed yesterday and the body will be released to the relatives after the post-mortem examination is completed.
