An injunction order which was issued preventing the removal of MP Duminda Dissanayake, Transport State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Agriculture and Plantation industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera from the positions of the Working Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) was yesterday ordered to extend until May 15 by the Colombo District Court. The case was taken up before Colombo Chief District Judge Sandun Vithana.

In their petitions, the petitioners have pointed out that the party has taken illegal and arbitrary actions to expel them from their positions are contrary to the party constitution.

The petitioners have also pointed out in their petition that they have caused damage to their reputations by attempting to remove them from their positions without conducting a proper disciplinary inquiry.

The plaintiff had filed petitions in the District Court seeking an order preventing the decision taken to remove them from the positions and appoint other people in violation of the party constitution.

The petitions had cited Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chairman, Former President Maithripala Sirisena, its Acting Secretary Sarathi Dushmantha Mithrapala, its Senior Vice President Nimal Siripala de Silva, President’s Counsel Faizer Mustapha, Mahiyangana Constituency Organiser K.P. Gunawardhana as the respondents.
