Court allows JSS to hold election

The Nugegoda District Court yesterday (8) permitted to conduct the official election of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS), the main trade union of the United National Party, which is operated under the leadership

of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and under the chairmanship of Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

A small group had obtained an injunction from the Nugegoda District Court against the official election of the United National Party’s JSS which was held every three years. According yesterday, permission was given by Court to hold the official election by removing the prohibitory order.

JSS Chairman Akila Viraj Kariyawasam stated that the election will be held as soon as possible. He also stated that the lifting of the prohibition order was a great victory for the United National Party and the JSS.
