Man who facilitated child smuggling to Malaysia arrested

Powerful persons involved in operation in Malaysia, France and England:
Had trafficked 17 children to Europe from Malaysia since 2022:

A group of officers from the Risk Assessment Unit of the Investigation Department of Immigration and Emigration, arrested the main facilitator in Sri Lanka who was involved in the smuggling of Sri Lankan children to Europe via Malaysia on April 25 at the Katunayake Airport. He is a 76-year-old resident of Dehiwala.

As he had been accused of human trafficking by taking 17 Sri Lankan children out of the country, the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, Harsha Ilukpitiya, had ordered the Risk Assessment Unit of the Investigation of the Department ofImmigration and Emigration to carry out a special and comprehensive investigation on him.

Accordingly, the officials of the Risk Assessment Unit of the Sri Lankan Department of Immigration and Emigration investigation department had been tracking him and closely monitoring him, and had also taken steps to inform the Malaysian Immigration Department officials about him.

Within this background, on April 25, when a 14-year-old boy was being taken to Malaysia with his father accompanied by this individual, officials of the Kuala Lumpur Airport Immigration Department who arrested them had taken steps to deport them to Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, on April 25 at 9.30 in the morning, they were sent to Katunayake Airport by an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and a group of officers of the Risk Assessment Unit of the Investigation Department of Immigration and Emigration, had taken them into custody.

He had taken 17 Sri Lankan children to Malaysia from December 2022 to April 2023 and it is of significance that all of them are Tamils. Information regarding 13 children among them, have been discovered by the officers of the above Immigration and Emigration Department unit, eight of those children are residents of Jaffna area and the remaining five are residents of Batticaloa area.

These children are taken from their parents and they leave with them first to Malaysia. After that, they prepare the necessary documents as Malaysian children and are trafficked to France and England. The arrested man is the person who takes the children from Sri Lanka to Malaysia and provides the necessary facilities and the officials of the Immigration and Emigration Department have now discovered that there are powerful people involved in this great human trafficking operation in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, France and England.
