Homagama Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya ordered that the accused, identified as Sarathchandra Sumanasekara alias Nandana Sumanasekara from Colombo, be remanded till April 24.He was arrested by the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.
It was revealed in court that the suspect had also forged a birth certificate and national identity card using the identity of a deceased person. This information was presented by Police officers during the proceedings.Additionally, the wife of the main suspect, who was also sentenced to death in connection with the incident, was arrested by the Unsolved Crime Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department last February in the Bandaragama area. After being presented to the Homagama High Court, she was ordered to be detained as she had filed an appeal.
