SJB MP Nalin Bandara said that the statement made by the National People’s Power (Jathika Janatha Balawegaya) that he was invited to speak about the debate is completely false.
He said that eventhough he was invited by a media organisation to talk about the debate, he refused because it should be discussed about in public and not at a media organisation.
He said at a recent press conference that the leaders of both parties have to debate on many issues, not only on the economy, but also on foreign relations, education, health, small and medium scale entrepreneurs, and because of the fear of talking about these, the National People’s Power is backing away from the debate.
As the National People’s Power appointed an economic committee, they invited the Samagi Jana Balavegaya to come for a debate with their economic committee. The economic committee has to talk about the economy. The two presidential candidates have many issues to discuss.
There is no time limit for the debate. The opposition leader is ready to debate at any time. This debate should be held in front of the people in the presence of all media.
