National People’s Power (NPP) member Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that although they arranged a meeting on April 10 to discuss about the debate, the debate coordinator of the SJB side, MP Nalin Bandara, did not come that day.
He said that even if the meeting was forgotten about, with the New Year, National People’s Power leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake is ready for a debate with Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at any time.
Dr. Jayatissa, who has been appointed as the NPP coordinator regarding the debate said they are ready to hold the debate at any time “We have stated this several times. We were the first to challenge the Opposition Leader to a debate on the economy. The Samagi Jana Balavegaya pretended that they did not hear it. Now MP Harsha de Silva has been put forward to talk about it. A Presidential Election is ahead. Therefore, the Presidential Candidate should participate in the debate.
