Senuk and Vidara emerge champions

Senuk Samararatne and Vidara Vidanage emerged open men’s and women’s singles at the Summer Season All Island open Badminton tournament concluded at Nuwara Eliya Municipality Stadium yesterday.

St Sebastian Moatuwa promising shuttler Senuk Samararatne defeated Thenuka de Silva with a three setter game 21-11,13-21,22-20 at the final to take the open men’s title while Vidara defeated Janaruwani de Alwis with straight two sets 21-10,21-11 to take the women’s singles title .

Janaruwani partnered with Nilasi Balasuriya won womens double final defeating Buthmi Galagamage and Nadeesha Gayanthi 21-12,21-17 Thenuka de Silva and Tharusha Madubhanu won the men’s doubles final defeating Hansa de Silva and Yohan Weerasuriya 21-18,21-10 . The mixed double final won by Buthmi Galagamage and Marcello Mainaky defeating

Thenuka de Silva and Samidi Sathsara 21-10,21-14

Senuk Samararatne clichéd the second Championship of boys under 19 title defeating Thesath Rajapaksa with three setter game while Komathu Kethnara Kumarapperuma made three setter game to win the girls under 19 title defeating Rukshika Baskaran.

Thisath Rupathunga and Vishwanie Wanniarachchi won boys and girls under 17 titles .

Sri Lanka Badminton ( SLB ) together with Central Province Badminton Association conducted this tournament successfully while Rohan de Silva SLB President was the chief guest at the awards ceremony yesterday.
