The Sri Lanka Archery Association is set to conduct a crucial Selection Trial aimed at forming the National Pool and selecting participants for the upcoming World Cup. The event will take place at the Samodaya Stadium, Mawathagama on May 11 and 12, starting from 8 AM.

This marks a significant milestone as it’s the inaugural Selection Trial organised by the new executive committee following the prolonged suspension of the association. The trial will focus on two main events: Recurve 70m and 50m Compounds.

For the Recurve category, the Olympic event, male contenders are required to achieve a minimum score of 640, while female participants must attain a score of 610. In the 50m Compound events, a score of 670 for men and 660 for women will be the benchmark for selection.

The federation aims to select two male and two female athletes to represent Sri Lanka at the World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, scheduled from June 18th to 23. The selected archers from remaining participants will form the national pool.

Expectations are high, with Sri Lanka’s top archers from various sectors including the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police, along with representatives from 12 affiliated Archery Clubs under the National Federation, ready for the competition. Approximately 50 archers are anticipated to participate over the two-day event.

Notably, the federation has seen an expansion in its network, with two new clubs joining the existing 10 affiliated archery clubs this year.
