Stage set for Ceylon Football Cup semis

The Ceylon Football Cup semi-finals will be played on May 11 and 12. The tournament showcases teams from Jaffna, Kandy, Galle, and Colombo competing for the championship.

Jaffna vs. Kalutara: Jaffna won 3-2 with Dilanson scoring two goals and S. Gnanaruban scoring one goal for Jaffna, while Mohammad Azmir and Mohammad Ajmeen scored for Kalutara.

Kandy vs. Nigombo football Club: Kandy dominated with a 9-0 victory. Notably, the Nigerian national player led the charge with multiple goals, alongside contributions from Oldameji, Aqib Fizer, Mohammed Fazal, Nigerian Sheryl Pingo, and A. Rahman.

Eastern vs. Colombo Football Club: Colombo won 1-0 with U. Sakil scoring for Colombo.

Central vs. Galle: Galle emerged victorious with a 2-1 win. E. B. Channa and Anil Shantha scored for Galle, while Mohammad Meera scored for Central. Now, the stage is set for the semi-finals: The first semi-final will be between Kandy and Jaffna on May 11 at 3.30 pm.

The second semi-final will be between Galle and Colombo on May 12 at 3.30 pm at the Colombo City League ground. It’s notable that the tournament allows players regardless of whether they’ve represented the national team. The tournament was conceptualized by r. Saif Yusup, the founder of Colombo Football Club and managing director of Expo Lanka, with attractivet prizes for the winners and runners-up. The final is scheduled for May 18.
