Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Kana Kananathan met Vice Chief of Defence Forces of Kenya, Lt Gen. Charles Kahariri at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Kana Kananathan met Vice Chief of Defence Forces of Kenya, Lt Gen. Charles Kahariri at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi. Kananathan conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Sri Lanka, as well as personally, for the recent passing of Defence Forces Chief of Kenya Late General Francis Ogolla. The High Commissioner’s words reflected the solidarity and empathy shared between Sri Lanka and Kenya.

The discussions transitioned to matters of mutual interest and cooperation between the two countries. Reflecting on the recent visit of the Chief of Defence Staff of Sri Lanka General Shavendra Silva and the late Chief of Defence Forces of Kenya General Francis Ogolla, HC Kananathan and the Vice Chief Of Defence Forces of Kenya Lieutenant General Kahariri engaged in substantive dialogue aimed at advancing shared objectives and programmes.

Both the Vice Chief of Defence and the High Commissioner expressing mutual agreement to propel forward the programmes and initiatives discussed by Chief of Defence Staff of Sri Lanka General Shavendra Silva and the late Chief of Defence Forces of Kenya General Ogolla. Kananathan reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to nurturing the enduring friendship and cooperation shared between Sri Lanka and Kenya, emphasizing the significance of solidarity and partnership in overcoming shared challenges and pursuing common goals.

In line with President Wickremesinghe’s Look Africa policy, in recent years engagement between Sri Lanka and Africa continues to flourish, fueled by mutual respect and shared aspirations. The meeting stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment to strengthen bilateral ties for the collective benefit of both nations.
