The Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court yesterday (6) ordered that Sujith Fernando alias ‘Sigithi’, who is the main suspect behind the disappearance of 31-year-old Susith Jayawamsa in the Kabalawa area of Kuliyapitiya, be released on two personal bails of Rs. 500,000 each. The suspect who surrendered to Court through his lawyers through a motion was granted bail later. Police told the Court that the suspect was undermining the Court and the law by going into hiding despite been aware that the Police was on the lookout for him.
Police said that investigations are still ongoing. They said that the phone analysis reports are still being received and investigations are being conducted to identify the specific suspects, and if those who came forward have anything to do with the incident, they can give a statement to the police.
