Lanka Hospitals Celebrates 250th Bariatric Surgery Milestone

Lanka Hospitals inaugurated its new Bariatric Centre recently coinciding with the celebration of surpassing the milestone of 250 successful Bariatric surgeries performed at the hospital.

The Guest-of-Honour at the inauguration, former Sri Lankan Cricket Captain, Arjuna Ranatunga, shared his personal experience with Bariatric surgery at Lanka Hospitals Bariatric Centre. He said, “I spent most of my adult life struggling with obesity, but thanks to Bariatric surgery at Lanka Hospitals Bariatric Centre, I have been able to resolve long-standing health issues and inconveniences. Problems like multiple sports injuries in the spine and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) that led me to seek medical intervention have now been completely resolved. The benefits I enjoy today are a result of undergoing Bariatric surgery, not just for me but also for my son, daughter, and son-in-law. It’s truly been a life-changing experience for all of us”, he added.

Addressing the opening ceremony Group CEO of Lanka Hospitals, Deepthi Lokuarachchi expressed his gratitude to the medical team and staff for their dedication and hard work in achieving this significant milestone. “The successful inauguration of our new Bariatric Centre and the surpassing of our 250th successful surgery mark a momentous occasion for Lanka Hospitals. Heading the Lanka Hospitals Bariatric Centre, Prof. Thejana Wijeratne emphasized the centre’s commitment to providing personalized care to each patient. “At Lanka Hospitals, our focus goes beyond average Bariatric surgeries. We have begun to meet more challenging Bariatric surgeries for patients experiencing other complex medical conditions, such as those being treated for acute kidney conditions.
