An employee of the repair department at Laugfs Gas in the Mabima area, tragically passed away due to his intestines exploding when fellow workers lodged a high-pressure air tube in his back.
Two employees involved in this incident have been arrested by Sapugaskanda Police. The deceased individual is a twenty-four-year-old named Deshan Madhushanka, who worked for the company and resided in Alubomulla, Panadura. Two employees of the same institution had jokingly directed a hose into the deceased employee’s back last Monday (25). The autopsy of the deceased employee was scheduled to take place yesterday (29) at Ragama General Hospital. The two arrested employees are residents of the Tissamaharama
area and are to be presented before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court. In connection with this incident, under the direction of the OIC of Sapugaskanda Police Station Chief Inspector Ositha Lanka de Silva, the OIC of the Criminal Investigation Division, Sub Inspector D. P. S. L.Muthukumarana, along with police sergeants Abeyratne (19334), Perera (32560), Thilakaratne (36589), Pushpakumara (55713), and Gunasekara (67646), are conducting further investigations.
