Rs. 2.2 Mn buried in drug dealer’s accomplice’s house found

A team of Narcotics officers searched the house of a close confidant of “Patta Manju” currently living abroad and involved in leading the drug trade in the country, who is the main accomplice of “Ganemulla Sanjeewa”, a powerful organized crime gang leader and drug trafficker who is currently being held at Weeragula Police Station on remand orders and found more than Rs. 2.2 million hidden in a hole inside the house, on Wednesday (17).

There was a woman and a man in the house that was searched, and when the mobile phones of the woman in the house were checked, it was discovered that the money earned from drug trafficking was circulating through them which led to the narcotics officers searching the house further.

The arrested woman is a 29-year-old resident of Kehelbeddara area.

The narcotics officers said that the suspect woman is being held on detention orders and further investigations are being conducted to uncover the drug network.
