The police headquarters states that more than 7500 police officers and more than 1200 military personnel have been deployed for the security at Christian churches where Christmas services are held.

The police have identified that services will be held in conjunction with Christmas Day in about 2340 Christian churches located in 582 police divisions in the island.

The Acting Inspector General of Police has given instructions to implement special security arrangements and form security commitees in the churches where the services are held and accordingly the police have established civil committees as well to cover all the churches.

If authorities of a certain church is not satisfied with its security, they can discuss it with the senior officials of that province and if there is no adequate response they can call the special number 0112472757 established at the police headquarters and ask for assistance and the Acting Inspector General of Police will directly intervene in this regard, the police headquarters said.
