Former CJs Katana residence burgled

Kochchikade Police said that investigations have started regarding the theft of a brass elephant and a mini Taj Mahal replica from the house of former Chief Justice (CJ) Sarath N. Silva in the Katana area on September 27 night. Former Chief Justice Sarath N.Silva resides in Colombo and Police said that the theft was committed by breaking the back door of his house in the East Katana area. The Police said that a watchman is only there during the day to look after the house and the land.

The watchman came to the house of the former Chief Justice on September 28 morning and while checking around the house, he saw that the back door of the house was broken and called Police on the phone.

Later, the Kochchikade Police officers along with the watchman inspected the house. During the inspection, it was revealed that an elephant made of brass and a small replica of the Taj Mahal had been stolen from the house. Kochchikade Police OIC, CI Srinaka Jayakody and officials are conducting further investigations regarding the theft.
