Polpithigama Police Station gets new building

The opening of the new building of the Polpithigama Police Station was held on Saturday (16) under the patronage of Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.

After religious ceremonies and the unveiling of the plaque, the Minister participated in a tree planting programme and a meeting with the public organized by the Polpithigama Police Speaking at the meeting, Minister Alles said that he was happy to be able to complete and deliver the new building which had been needed for many years.

He said the country was in a state of confusion when he assumed the responsibility of the Ministry in May last year, and the respect of the pride of police officers had deteriorated and because of what was done throughout the last year, the respect and pride of the police officers today was restored.

The Minister stated that the welfare of the police officers was increased due to the provision of the bata allowance and the provision of 500 new jeeps to the Sri Lanka Police.

Minister Alles presented a token of appreciation to M. Savindi Poornima Jayawardena of Kurunegala Holy Family Girls’ College, daughter of a police officer, who stood first in the Kurunegala district in the Commerce section at the recent AL Examinations, as well as 12th in the island.
