Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha is on an observation tour of the Illinois University in Chicago, USA. During his visit, he explored the state-of-the-art medical and robotic surgery laboratories housed within the world’s second-largest medical school, overseen by the university’s Health and Science Department. The Minister also visited the Chicago College of Pharmacy, renowned as one of the oldest college pharmacies globally, and inspected its modern testing laboratories. He expressed a desire for the university to share its cutting-edge technical methods with students in Sri Lanka.
The Education Minister took the opportunity to remind University officials of the MoU signed between the Peradeniya University and the Illinois University. This memorandum aimed to establish an exchange programme focusing on education and research, offering Sri Lankan students the opportunity to delve into innovative learning methods.
Emeritus Professor Siva Sivanathan accompanied the Minister on this observation tour.
