Sri Lanka and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are focused on the next step in completing the second review of the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

According to the Finance Ministry, a discussion in this regard was held between State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe and the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for Sri Lanka and India, Dr.Krishnamurthy Subramaniam in Washington.

State Minister Semasinghe who left Sri Lanka to attend the “Mid-Year Spring Meetings” 2024 of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, has joined this special discussion on the sidelines of the conference. The State Minister also pointed out that the discussions between Sri Lanka and the International Monetary Fund are progressing well. Semasinghe states that the support provided by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and other international partners during the worst economic crisis in the history of the country in 2022 is the main reason for the stability and progress that Sri Lanka has achieved today.
