Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of peace and celebration, and it is a time to come together, irrespective of differences. The people of Gaza too deserve peace and joy, as much as anyone else, and as we embrace the spirit of Eid, I hope peace will embrace the people of Gaza and the region as a whole, former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Palestine M. Fawzan Anwer said. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, and is a time of spiritual reflection and celebration.

The message conveyed to humanity through Eid-ul-Fitr celebration is universal in its manifest. It expects everybody to be fair to all, based on religious, spiritual and social ideals.

The fasting associated with Ramadan encourages mental and physical commitment to the faith and also enables families and communities to connect with one another and renew values sacred to Islam. Eid-ul-Fitr embodies the values of peace, resilience, and generosity. It is a period of reflection and prayer, an opportunity to come together and uplift each other.

As we celebrate Eid-ul-fitr, Muslims should pray for the continued peaceful co-existence, unity and progress of Sri Lanka and the world as a whole.
