The co-convener of the Alliance of Health Trade Unions, Chanaka Dharmawickrama, said that the strike that was scheduled to be held today (19) by 72 Health Trade Unions was temporarily suspended.
He stated that the strike has been postponed by a week following a written request made by Health Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala.
Dharmawickrama said that the Health Secretary informed that a discussion is being planned with the Finance Ministry to get the approval for the report sent by the Health Minister and the Finance Secretary regarding the demands of the 72 unions.
He also said that considering the inconvenience caused to the patients, the Trade Unions had decided to suspend the strike temporarily.
