Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that it is necessary to update the education sector in Sri Lanka to suit the digital era, so that it can move forward together with the future world.
Minister Premajayantha said this while participating in the ‘Mobile World Congress -24’, the world’s leading conference on information communication technology held in Barcelona, Spain.
Sri Lankan education sector received a significant contribution from this conference in order to get the proper guidance needed to restore the education digitization process in Sri Lanka.
5G technology and its future, connectivity of everything (Iox-Internet of Everything), giving a human face to artificial intelligence, digital industrial transformation, ‘Digital DNA’ are the prominent themes of this annual conference. The participants were given the opportunity to study the latest developments in digitization and communication technology in the presence of global leaders and giants of the technology world. Intellectual dialogues and strategic collaborative discussions helped to open up the necessary new avenues for that.
Becoming a turning point in Sri Lankan education, this conference in Barcelona has been able to open opportunities for the students of Sri Lanka to pursue excellence in education through the digitization of education. Accordingly, opportunities for Sri Lankan students and educators to access innovative digital tools and resources and explore the latest developments in digitization will open up opportunities in the future. It is the hope of the Government to achieve the objective of providing quality and equal educational opportunities to all.
