Summons was issued against Mt.Lavinia Magistrate Kosala Senadeera to appear before the Colombo High Court on April 2, 2024 to testify over the case filed against Sunimal Perera, the younger brother of Drug kingpin Gampola Widanage Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’ for allegedly attempting to kill a Police officer who was on duty at a road block. The Colombo High Court also ordered to send the copies of the identification parade of the suspect held at the Magistrate’s Court at that time to the Mt.Lavinia Magistrate with the summons.
The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe.
Following notice issued by the Colombo High Court on October 13, 2023 to the Mt.Lavinia Magistrate’s Court to produce a case file pertaining to the case filed against the accused in the Colombo High Court, the Mt.Lavinia Magistrate’s Court informed that they were unable to find a case file pertaining to the case.The Registrar of the Mt.Lavinia Magistrate’s Court testified before the Colombo High Court on October 20, 2023.The case will be taken up again on April 2, 2024.
Attorney Suranga Bandara appeared for the accused while State Counsel Nimesha de Alwis appeared on behalf of the Attorney General.
