Two Constables who released a person arrested with drugs after taking an Apple mobile phone and Rs.25,300 from him, were arrested by the Nugegoda Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau. A Constable attached to Keselwatta Police Station and another Constable
attached to Colombo Fort Police Station has been arrested.Police said that these two Police Constables went to Rajagiriya area on July 23 in a three-wheeler and searched a person near a supermarket complex.
The person who is a resident of Wedage Watta Road, Kotuwegoda in Rajagiriya, was having two grams of Ice at the time when he was arrested.
Police said the two police officers arrested the man there, put him in the three-wheeler and took him to a deserted place, where he was released after taking from him Rs.25,300 and an Apple mobile phone that he had in his possession. A senior police officer said that this person had lodged a complaint with the Welikada Police and based on the complaint, the Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted an investigation and arrested the two police officers.
