The Matara District Child Development Committee meeting was held at the Matara District Secretariat -Gamini Jayasekara Auditorium.
The meeting was held with Matara Additional District Secretary Kasun Wellahewa as the Chair.
There are nearly 300,000 children living in Matara district and it is the responsibility of this committee to take various decisions for their safety and future development.
Here attention was focused on the actions that can be taken as a district to prevent child abuse, violence against children.
They also discussed about the child welfare programmes implemented for the children and their quality.
Matara Assistant District Secretary Lakmali Thenuwara, Regional Secretaries of Matara district and all Government officials and Police officers involved in the field of child development participated in this event.
The Matara District Secretariat Child Development Division organised the meeting.
