The Siripagama Police have obtained an order from the Ratnapura High Court to obtain a mobile phone analysis report of the 33-year-old pilgrim who climbed Sri Pada and went missing after he allegedly jumped off from the Uda Maluwa area.

This young man jumped down from the mountain with his mobile phone in hand. When the Army and the Police Special Task Force launched operations to find him, the location of his phone was identified through technical facilities.

Although the Army personnel had reached the location, there had been no phone or even a sign that the young man had fallen.

A high-ranking Police officer said that despite checking the surrounding area, there was not even a trace of blood, so they focused on getting a phone analysis report.

When the Army and the Special Task Force personnel engaged in the search operation went to the place, the phone was in disconnected mode.

Even CCTV footage obtained from cameras at Uda Maluwa showed the man jumping, the officer said.

The man has been identified as a resident of Sooriyawewa, Hambantota, a father of two.

This season alone he had climbed Sri Pada on three or four occasions and the police are suspicious whether he had a hidden motive.
