Expressways generated Rs. 235 Mn in six days

The revenue of Expressways during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season this year has increased by around Rs.76 million compared to last year, the Road Development Authority (RDA) said.

RDA Director General Priyantha Suriyabandara told the media yesterday (16), that the income generated from the highways during the New Year season from April 10 to 15 had recorded Rs.235 million.

Suriyabandara further said that during the six day New Year festive period 674,000 vehicles have used Expressways in the country. According to him, last year during the New Year period a total of 614,000 vehicles have travelled on Expressways where it has recorded an increase of about 60,000 vehicles this year compared with last year.

With this year’s revenue earned from highways during the six days New Year period recorded as Rs.235 million, it has seen an increase compared to last year’s New Year six day period which was Rs.159 million which has resulted in an increase of revenue earned from highways by Rs. 76 million, the Director General of RDA said.
