India lifts onion export ban on Sri Lanka

The Indian government today lifted the export ban on onions for Sri Lanka in view Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities.

The Indian government lifted the export ban on onions for Sri Lanka, with export of upto 10000 MT of onions permitted vide the enclosed notification of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, a release issued by the Indian High Commission in Colombo said today.

The exemption for Sri Lanka reiterated India’s Neighbourhood First policy, adding to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities here.
