The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reported the facts before Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis that an extensive investigation has been initiated regarding an alleged conspiracy to kill Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage by some person or group using a T81 firearm and a hand grenade.
The CID Special Investigation Unit has reported to the court that this investigation was started based on a complaint made by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
According to the instructions given the Minister of Public Security, the Inspector General handed over this matter to the CID Special Investigation Unit.
The Criminal Investigation Department has reported to the court through the B report that an informant had submitted facts in a letter to the Public Security Minister regarding this assassination plot. The Criminal Investigation Department has also stated that the relevant informant had reported these facts along with the phone number that a person had requested a firearm from another person over the phone to kill Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
