The Health Ministry is investigating into an incident where a group of female students attached to a girls’ school in Kegalle has been groped by an ECG technician of the Kegalle Teaching Hospital. According to Health Ministry official, these students in question have been referred for ECG test for their Sports Medical certificates. It has been reported that 15 female students have faced this situation.
A senior Health Ministry official said that it is unethical for a male technical officer to conduct the tests alone when usually girls are referred for this kind of examination.
An investigation is being conducted in relation to the incident and after informing Education Ministry regarding this incident.
However, a senior Police officer said they had not received any complaint regarding this incident from the school. Police had received the information on this incident through the Police emergency line.
