The Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court yesterday (28) ordered former President Maithripala Sirisena to appear in court on April 4 and give a statement regarding a statement he made regarding the Easter Sunday attacks.
This order was issued by the court under Section 120 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after taking a request made by the Criminal Investigation Department into consideration.
The Department informed that the former President arrived at the CID on March 25 and gave a statement regarding this incident.The Department filed facts on the instructions of the Attorney General. The Former President made a statement to the media after a ceremony held in Kandy on March 22 that he knows those who carried out the Easter Sunday attacks.
Public Security Minister Tiran Alles had instructed IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon to conduct an immediate investigation regarding this controversial revelation of the former President.
