In a gesture of solidarity and inclusivity, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Kenya Kana Kananathan hosted an Ifthar prayer followed by dinner for the Sri Lankan Muslim community residing in Kenya.
The auspicious event, held yesterday evening, was not only a celebration of faith but also an occasion to foster camaraderie and unity within the Sri Lankan diaspora.
The ifthar dinner was held at an upmarket restaurant in the suburbs of Nairobi. The gathering, graced by the presence of General Shavendra Silva, the Chief of Defence Staff of Sri Lanka, who is currently on an official visit to Kenya, exemplified the importance of community engagement and cultural exchange. General Silva’s attendance underscored the government’s commitment to embracing diversity and strengthening bonds with its citizens abroad.
The High Commissioner’s initiative was hailed by the community members as a symbol of the Sri Lankan government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being and cultural enrichment of its citizens living abroad.
