The Chief Incumbent of the historic Galvihara Temple in Polonnaruwa Ven. Kandaketiye Aththadassi Thera said President Ranil Wickremesinghe while making many sacrifices has brought the country to this state despite challenges and added all should come together and support his endeavours to protect it and not allow the country to fall into a crisis again.
The Thera noted the above in his anusasana during religious ceremonies conducted before the inauguration of the road development work in Polonnaruwa on Sunday under the 2024 rural road revitalization programme. This was done in conjunction with President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s birthday.
The Thera said: “since today is the birthday of the President, the first purpose of this ceremony is to invoke him blessings. Next, this ceremony will invoke blessings for the success of the efforts made by Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardhana and others to develop rural roads in Polonnaruwa with an allocation of more than Rs.310 million.
This includes the development of the road leading to the Sangharamaya of this temple. The people’s representative from our area Siripala Gamlath too is lending support. The President has ushered a certain level of peace and development in the country with great dedication. Everyone should support him to continue these efforts and to give more relief to the people”.
Maha Sangha, Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardhana, Highways State Minister Siripala Gamlath, Rural Road Development State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, and MP Jagath Samarawickrama attended.
