A programme was implemented by the Purawara Sarasavi Mithuro team of Colombo University alumni to remove plastic, glass bottles, polythene and other harmful waste at the Dunhinda Falls access road and near the falls.
A group of 120 participated in the clean-up of many kilometres of the road from Badulla-Mahiyangana Road through Dunhinda Falls access road up to the falls and removed the waste near the falls.
The programme was implemented in conjunction with the annual get-together of the Purawara Sarasavi Mithuro of the 2001/2002 study group who graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the Colombo University. One hundred and twenty adults and 52 children of their families participated in the project.
The Purawara Sarasavi Mithuro annual get-together was held under the patronage of Ven. Nugegalaya JinanandaThera of Hilda Jayewardenaramaya, Ottawa, Canada.
