Shafiullah Akram of Trinity College Kandy and Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College Kandy clinched men’s and women’s open singles titles at the Western Province Table Tennis Association ( WPTTA) All Island ranking Table Tennis championship held at at Bandaragama.

In fact National women’s champion Bimandee Bandara once again won the women’s singles title defeating Thamadi Kavindya of Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda in three straight sets 11-8,12-10,11-8. Shafiullah Akram was crowned new men’s open single champion after beating Anandian Rehan Senanayake in hard fought five setter final 6/11, 13/11, 13/11, 9/11, 11/8 (3-2). Apart from the two major titles both Bimandee and Shafiullah won girls under 19 title and boys under 17 titles.

The same opponents met at boys under 17 final while Shafiullah Akram beat Rehan Senanayake 11/07, 06/11, 14/12,11/02 while Bimandee Bandara beat Divya Darani of Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda 15/13, 11/06, 13/11 to win girls under 19 title.

Deranya Keshara of Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda beat Kenura Silva of Nalanda College, 11/ 13, 11/04, 12/10 to win the boys under 11 final while Under 11 Girls singles saw Chanuki Akshana of Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda beating Aveesha Herath of St Anthonys Girls College Kandy 11/05, 11/06, 11/07 in the final.

Under 13 Boys Singles: Kenura Silva of Nalanda College, Colombo beat Yenul Abeywickrama of Ananda College, Colombo – 09/11, 11/08,12/10, 11/09

Under 13 Girls Singles: Muthuli Sahanya of Southlands College Galle beat Nisandi Nimthara of Southlands College Galle 14/12, 03/11, 11/08, 11/06

Under 15 Boys Singles: Akain Bojith of Dharmasoka ,Ambalangoda beat Senul Rathnayaka of Dharmaraja College Kandy 13/11, 13/11, 10/12, 11/08

Under 15 Girls Singles: Yoshini Jayawardana of Mahamaya College, Kandy beat Muthuli Sahanya of Southlands College Galle 15/13,11/06,13/11

Under 17 Girls Singles: Tamadi Kavindya of Devananda College Ambalangoda beat Mekeyla Fernando of Elizabeth Moir School Colombo 11/05, 11/04, 11/05

Under 19 Boys Singles: Rehan Senanayake of Ananda College, Colombo beat Diran Hamer of Royal College, Colombo 11/07, 06/11, 14/12, 11/02.
