Veteran spinner Rupakumara had a fine figures of 5 for 18 in his four over spell while Rashan Menikpura made a fine unbeaten knock of 40 as Richmond Old boys recorded eight wicket win over their traditional rivals Mahinda old boys in their Battle of the Lovers game played at Pearce Reserve ,Kings Langley grounds in Sydney recently.
Mahindians scored 106 all out in 22.4 overs while Janaka Ranawaka top scored with 25 .The former Richmond wicket keeper Batsman Rupakumara Rupasinghe turned out to be a spinner at this game bowled a hostile spell to pick 5 wickets to contain Old Mahindians. Thilina Samaraweera took 3 for 11playing a supporting role
Richmond Old boys chasing their target reached it in 21.5 overs with Rashan Menikpura (40 not out ) was leading the way while Pasindu Bimsara scored an unbeaten 22 and Lasith Karandeniya hit 23 playing good supporting knocks to reach the target with 8 wickets in hand. Mahindian bowler Danindu took 1 for 23.
