Three SLR workers interdicted after assaulting tourists in Nawalapitiya

Railways General Manager H. M. K. W. Bandara said three railway workers who allegedly assaulted two tourists on a train travelling from Colombo to Badulla at the Nawalapitiya Station was interdicted.

He said all three workers are attached to the Nawalapitiya Station. An investigation too has been initiated, he added. These tourists had reportedly travelled in the first-class compartment with only one of them having a ticket.

Accordingly, it is reported that the two tourists were allegedly assaulted by the employees of the Nawalapitiya railway station and pulled out of the train.

Bandara further said that the tourists have not complained to the Police.

He also said that the department will complain to embassies of the countries of the relevant tourists about their conduct.
