The Colombo High Court has sentenced 7 persons to death for the murder of 3 people, while attempting to travel to Australia illegally in 2012.The group had boarded a trawler in Tangalle. But a fight had broken out on board, and several people had been thrown overboard.
Three had drowned, while others were rescued by nearby fishing boats which informed the Sri Lanka Navy.
The suspects were then apprehended by the Navy.
