The Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) said that the financial assistance programme awarded to the children of members of the ETF who have sat for the GCE (Advanced Level) will be implemented anew from 2023 onwards.

Accordingly, provision of financial assistance under this new benefit scheme will be made, subject to a maximum of Rs.25, 000, to follow a recognized Vocational Training Course (NVQ) for members’ children who sat for GCE Advanced Level Examination in January 2023 in relation to the year 2022.

This entitlement of scholarship can be obtained for 54 courses conducted through vocational training institutes approved by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

The ETF website www.etfb.lk lists the courses that can be selected. Before registration, a student can visit the website www.tvec.gov.lk to ascertain whether the institute he or she selects is one approved by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

As a basic qualification for this financial assistance programme, an applicant has to be a student who sat for the GCE Advanced Level Examination in January 2023, and could be a school applicant or a private candidate, not more than 23 years of age. (Passing is not essential)

The applicant’s mother/father/guardian should be an active member of this Fund at the time of the student sitting for the Advanced Level Examination.

Accordingly, in order to submit applications for the year 2022, payment of contributions should have been made continuously on behalf of the member from February 2022 to January 2023. Self-employed members should have continuously paid their ETF dues for a period of 36 months prior to their child sitting for the examination.

If both parents are members of the Employees’ Trust Fund, only one person shall submit the application. Furthermore, only one student is eligible for the grant of this financial assistance at a time.

For further details, applicants can visit the ETF website www.etfb.lk or can contact them on 0117747281 or 0117747282.
