A delegation of 16 entrepreneurs, representing the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) undertook a journey to Jakarta, Indonesia last week. Sri Lanka’s Embassy in Jakarta facilitated the delegation allowing the delegation to explore opportunities with the Indonesian business community.
The delegation visited the Permanent Trade Exhibition at Indonesia’s Trade Ministry on September 21. This was followed by a B2B discussion with a prominent pharmaceutical sector company in Indonesia.
A business gathering was held by the Sri Lanka’s Embassy in Jakarta at the embassy premises on September 22. The event was attended by more than 70 Indonesians from the business community representing key associations such as KADIN (Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry), HIPMI (Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association), APINDO (Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association), and GAPMMI (Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers Association).
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Indonesia and ASEAN Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage gave an in-depth background of business opportunities for both countries. He highlighted that Indonesia is a country of opportunities for those who aspire to link up with the business world with special reference to the growing middle class and the gigantic market. In Indonesia, there is nearly 229.9 million people which is about 88% of the total population, who like to spend money on travelling and shopping.The Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs presented a comprehensive overview of business opportunities to their Indonesian counterparts.
