He stated this while participating in the 72nd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party held in Battaramulla under the patronage of the former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (3).

The former President the happiness like this here at the convention will last long in the country only if we form a Government. In order to build the country, everyone should come together and prepare to go on one journey. We need to lead the country to one political ideology. SLFP needs to take leadership for that”.

Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Sri Lanka Nimal Siripala de Silva said all must come together and think about the country before the Party.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party should choose a political policy programme that suits the country and the era without going after the slogans. Nothing can be done without recovering the economy. We should attract youth and women into the Party.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said although the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is a party facing various challenges, it is not possible to wipe this party out of the country. In a few months, SLFP will be the Party with the most number of MPs in the Parliament.

MP Duminda Dissanayake said the other Parties waited until SLFP is destroyed. Although we had arguments, we ended up together. We are about to make a change now. People also need to prepare for that big change. SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said:We are negotiating to solve the crisis of our party. Party Chairman has built this unity of the party with great difficulty. That’s why we need to come to a consensus. State Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike did not participate in this event, however she sent a congratulatory message.
