UNP, SLPP reps attend BJP election campaign awareness programme

A representative each from the United National Party (UNP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) have attended an interactive discussion with India’s ruling Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) to study and understand the party’s election campaign strategies and the overall electoral process of India.

Taking to “X”, BJP’s President Jagat Prakash Nadda said on Wednesday (May 1), that he had an engaging discussion on BJP’s election campaign strategies and the overall electoral process with representatives of 18 political parties from ten countries at the BJP Headquarters on Wednesday (May 01), as part of their “Know BJP” initiative. Nadda said that this initiative isn’t just about sharing BJP’s achievements but also about inspiring others by showcasing the contributions and sacrifices BJP has made for nation-building.

UNP’s head of the Young Professionals organisation Sumudu Kekulandala and MP Nipuna Ranawaka of SLPP were among the representatives out of 18 political parties from 10 countries who have attended the BJP’s “Know BJP” knowledge sharing programme. The two Sri Lankan political party representatives have visited India upon receiving an invitation from the BJP as part of their “Know BJP” initiative which has been launched by Nadda on the party’s 43rd foundation day in 2023.

The representatives from UNP and SLPP have met President of BJP J.P.Nadda, External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Viashnaw in New Delhi at the BJP Headquarters where all representatives from the 18 political parties from the ten countries invited have been briefed on the BJP’s election campaign strategies and the overall electoral process of India.

Representatives from political parties who attended the “Know BJP” initiative interactive discussion with India’s ruling BJP have included several neighbouring countries of India such as Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal and some distant countries including Australia, Israel, Uganda, Tanzania, Russia and Mauritius.
