Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told Parliament yesterday that a racket involving his name claiming to give jobs in Denmark for youth in Sri Lanka has been uncovered and the Criminal Investigation Department has started an investigation in this regard.
The Prime Minister said this during an inquiry made by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in this regard.
The Prime Minister said that he is not involved in this incident in any manner and that the concerned group has collected Rs.600,000, each youth saying that they will provide jobs in Denmark.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa drew the Prime Minister’s attention to this matter.
”I do not believe that you have been involved with this. However, a programme of collecting Rs.600,000 each from the youth of this country is being implemented by a certain person and group claiming to be your Coordinating Secretary and giving jobs in Denmark.
Therefore, a formal investigation is requested in this regard,” he said.
